Our Name “VaMa”VaMa brings about the synergy between the Indian God of sea ‘Varun’ and Chinese Goddess of sea ‘Mazzu’ having chosen first two letters “Va” of ‘Varun’ and “Ma” of ‘Mazzu’.
Vama is also a unique name in ‘Sanskrit’ and literally means Noble Lady. Vama is also another form of Indian Goddesses Durga and Laxmi and another name of the Hindu God ‘Lord Shiva’.
VaMa Maritime Ventures Limited: Though established on 01st October 2018, VaMa Maritime Ventures officially rolled out on 07th November 2018. At VaMa Maritime, we are looking forward to build business relationships and sustain them by providing a gamut of maritime services and solutions to cater to Shipping individuals, Owners, Shipping companies and other stakeholders business needs. We aim to uniquely position ourselves with our focus on “Better Solutions” rather than “Bigger Volumes”.

Asheesh Mamgain

Asheesh graduated from MERI (Ex-DMET, Directorate of Marine Engineering Training), Kolkata in 1994. He started his sailing career with Anglo-Eastern Ship Management (Ice Class Bulk Carriers & Container). In his 11-year sea career he worked with V-Ships & Finaval spa (Chemical Tankers) and finally as 2nd/Eng and Chief Engineer with Executive Ship Management on Gas Carriers.

Prior to founding VaMa Maritime, Asheesh was the General Manager, Special Projects at Caravel Group. Before Caravel, Asheesh had spent 5 years at Noble Chartering Ltd. (a member of Noble Group, HK) with his last position being Global Head of Shipping Assets. He had joined Noble in 2012 as Technical Manager and soon became General Manager, managing & supervising Noble’s fleet of owned/bare boat ships.

A professional with over 25 years of hands-on practical experience and leadership roles in almost all spheres of shipping (Sale & Purchase, ship finance, operating leases, technical management, shipbuilding and shipboard experience) with proven track record of Marketing, developing, negotiating and executing various shipping projects/joint ventures including but not limited to Business Development, Relationship management & management of project teams.

In 2006, he came ashore with Fleet Management, HK (as New Building Supdt) and then took up a position as Technical Supdt with Univan Ship Management, HK. He continued as Superintendent with Anglo-Eastern Ship Management for 5 years till August 2012 before joining Noble Chartering Ltd., HK.

Asheesh is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, London.
